Took a short little walk this afternoon with the dog through the near by park seeing how it’s a rest day. I think he has bid dog syndrome as he always picks the biggest stick he can find. Here is a little video of him playing with it.
My wife and I completed our long run of 9 miles. The weather couldn’t have been more perfect. I felt pretty good starting out and just kept going. I completed the 9 miles in 1:47:19 and an average time of 7’22/km. I thought this was pretty good and my wife was only 10 minutes behind me. Post run, my legs feel good. I only hope I can keep this pace for the half and even pick it up a little.

It’s just about 9am and I’m still store from boot came the other night. My legs are feeling good but my triceps and my core are feeling some pain. Today’s long run is 9 miles. My wife is still sleeping and I want to get this show on the road. Get the run done early and out of the way so we can enjoy the rest of the day (until she has to go to work that is).
Despite the soreness from boot camp, I’m still looking forward to this run. It’s gorgeous fall weather with crisp cool air, sun shinning and some fall colours starting to appear already. I just might have to take my small camera and take some shots along the run which I’ll post after. Well, before it gets too late in the day to run, I think I’ll go wake my sleeping beauty so we can get this run going.
Today was our long run, 12 miles in the cool brisk air. Started out feeling quite cold but warmed up pretty quick. Also felt strong for the first 8 miles but then there was no energy left in the tank and starting to slow down and feel it in my legs. I did manage to finish but slower than I would have liked (2:30), but that’s ok; we’ll just have to pick it up a little on race day. The half-marathon is in 3 weeks so now we start going back down in distance.
By the end, my legs were quite sore, especially right above the knee and the inner thigh and still had to play beach volleyball later in the evening. Let’s just say I wasn’t moving as quickly as I normally would.
I’m sure race day will be cool October weather which I think is perfect for running.
The weather last night wasn’t too warm but wasn’t cool either, not to mention the fresh crisp. It was perfect for a 6 mile run, my legs felt great and the run was refreshing after a few days of no activity. Today, I feel re-energized and now looking forward to my 12 mile run on Saturday. I have a good feeling that my half-marathon next month will be much easier than the last three I’ve run. The reason being is that this time, I’m actually training and running the distances.
